Guidance for Crown entities

Crown Entities are accountable to Parliament for the statutory functions they undertake, the services they deliver, and the resources they manage. We were asked by a Crown Entity to develop guidance on financial management and accountability responsibilities.

As a first step, we talked to monitoring agencies to see what documentation was available and where was the best place to start. We then reviewed key legislation such as the Crown Entities Act 2004, the Public Finance Act 1989, and the Public Service Act 2020, and identified the critical sections for our client. We also considered a wide range of documents which included letters of expectations, Government directions, guides and good practice.  We collated all the key information into one paper with hyperlinks to supporting documentation. Our Crown Entity Guide has been well received and we are tailoring this for other agencies.
